About This Lesson

Joint Action Studies help guitarists develop independence and separateness of the thumb and right hand fingers. These two-part arpeggio exercises should be practiced as daily studies along with Accentuation, Damping and Hemiola Studies. Together, this combination will provide a well-rounded program for finger parity. By developing joint action coordination, strength and independence, a guitarist can sound more like a pianist whereas the bass, melody and chords can become more separate, and rhythmic subdivisions between the thumb and fingers are more attainable.
