About This Lesson
True Arpeggios are virtuoso studies and are highly recommended for any serious guitarist who wants to perform repertoire in concert. True Arpeggios provide an unrivaled technical foundation for both hands. The left hand learns precise displacements and fingerboard positions and the right hand learns how to correctly traverse multi-string arpeggios. Practicing True Arpeggios will empower guitarists with advanced knowledge of the fingerboard, chord harmony and position playing. These exercises are challenging (initially), yet will definitely prepare guitarists for concert repertoire and mastering the fret board. These True Arpeggio patterns are somewhat different than traditional guitar arpeggio patterns because they include each and every sequential note of triadic chords: Tonic (1st), Median (3rd) and Dominant (5th). When playing a True Arpeggio, you’ll notice that all notes of the triad are included successively in the pattern. These arpeggios may seem unconventional at first relevant to how most guitarists think an arpeggio should be played. For instance, a True Arpeggio on the guitar may span up to 19 frets! Conversely, traditional guitar arpeggios are played by simply holding a chord with the left hand while fingerpicking with the right hand, and may not encompass any displacements, position changes and consecutive triads. These 163 daily studies were selected to increase a guitarist’s skill from beginner to intermediate, from intermediate to advanced, and from advanced to virtuoso.
