About This Song
This is one of the characteristic dances which highlight the second act of The Nutcracker (when Clara and the Prince arrive at the Kingdom of Sweets, ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy). The Fairy and the people of the Kingdom perform several dances for Clara and the Prince, including a “Spanish Dance” that is sometimes called “Chocolate”. This allegro brillante waltz is transcribed in D major and is sprite, playful and evokes an idyllic soundscape. Duet guitarists will enjoy performing this arrangement and audiences will appreciate the work as the song has not been arranged by many, if any, guitarists. This is one of Stevan’s favorites and he performed it in his earlier years with other guitarists such as Tuck Andress and Fred Clarke.
